This graphic novel follows one Plains Cree family from the early 19th century to the present day and tells a story of redemption as residential school survivor James and his son, Edwin reconcile their past and begin a new journey.  Edwin is facing an uncertain future. Only by learning about his family’s past, as warriors, survivors of a smallpox epidemic, and casualties of a residential school, will he be able to face the present and embrace the future. Volume 3 Rupture deals with the issues surrounding residential schools. Edwin's mother talks about the tough time Edwin's father endured in residential school. Troubled son and father find a way to begin healing. Volume 4 Pactetells a story of redemption as residential school survivor James and his son, Edwin, reconcile their past and begin a new journey.  Diane Lavoie translated the third and fourth volumes. The series is highly recommended. Contains mature themes that may be disturbing to some readers.
