Sometimes I Feel Scared is a reader from the Nunavummi Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) Emotional Literacy Series. These books feature thoughtful, engaging stories that teach preschool-aged children to identify and regulate their emotions in healthy ways. The writers at Inhabit Education have created charming cartoon-like characters based on animals from the Arctic region. Tuka is a large caribou-like character and his friend is a much smaller character similar to a lemming. Their story follows the pair as they prepare to travel out on the land with their teacher and classmates. Despite all the preparations, Tuka expresses his fear because he has never gone on the land without his father.  Miki remains calm when he and Tulu are left behind as the class returns to school. Miki explains their teacher will return for them if they remain in the location. Miki helps his frightened friend as they play together and wait for the teacher. Teacher comes to locate the pair and the friends are safe. Tula thanks his friend for helping him when he was scared. This reader was designed as a read aloud story. It is also a leveled reader with simple dialogue and drawings that help the reader understand the text.  Highly recommended. Reading Level: 9. Fountas & Pinnell Level: J
