Description

Visions for the Future: A Celebration of Young Native American Artists, volume 1 is a catalogue of the works of 13 Native American young artists who were selected by the Native American Rights Fund organization for an exhibition. This organization offered young artists between the ages of eighteen and thirty-five the opportunity to submit works for their first ever art show. From the submissions thirteen artists' works were chosen. The show was launched to increase awareness about the contemporary arts and culture of Native American youth. As well this non-profit law firm sought to make the general public aware of current issues facing Native Americans in areas such as sovereignty, cultural and spiritual lifeways, tribal lands and natural resources, and Indigenous rights, education and social justice. The works include prose, poetry, paintings, posters, digital art and photography. The artists include Bunky Echo-Hawk, Victor Pascual, Thomas Ryan Red Corn, Micah Wesley, Valerie Norris, William Lewis, Dawn Webster, Luane Redeye, Cara Mcdonald, Daniel Mccoy jr., Alyssa Macy, Nadya Kwandibens, and Duane Dudley. Artist's statements accompany each work.
