Description
David Kanatawakhon, is a Turtle Clan Mohawk from the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte Territory, Tyendinaga. He has been actively involved in the teaching and retention of the Mohawk language since the early 1970s.
Yonteweyenhstahkwa Kanyen’keha / Mohawk Language Dictionary.
This Dictionary is for those who are students of Kanyen’keha (the Mohawk Language) and has been designed to be as user friendly as possible. It is the hope of this author to someday be able to provide a audio version of all of the Mohawk language found within.
The intent of this dictionary is to act as an aid for the sudent learning Kanyen’keha. Keep in mind that even though there are thousands of entries available within this dictionary not all of the Mohawk language actually spoken and used may be found, some vocabulary may be missing. Hopefully the next version of this dictionary will contain the word you’re looking for along with many more.
The book is 81/2 X 11 inches in size in a soft covered format with perfect binding, containing 364 pages of useful Mohawk language vocabulary in the Mohawk to English section and 160 pages of English to Mohawk where only the Mohawk root is listed encouraging the user to go to the Mohawk section which contains a lot of additional information and language. It consists of a table of contents, Pronunciation guide, and a grammar description.
