The book contains a collection of stories by Trent and Valentina Fox, with each teaching culminating in a learning section. To assist in nuances of the language, the book also includes audio components as web links. The Îethka Stoney Nakoda People are an integral part of the Treaty 7 group of Indigenous Nations in Southern Alberta. Their spoken language is part of the Dakota-Sioux linguistic group.
Trent Fox, Tatâga Thkan Wagichi (Dancing White Buffalo) (1974–2023), was an esteemed member of the Wesley First Nation, Stoney Nakoda Nation. His academic research inquiry was on the history of the Stoney Nakoda People and development of the Îethka language. A writer and columnist, he authored the books Nakota Community and Watâga Wîyâ Îethkahâ A’s, Â’s, B’s ze yuthpe wîchakiyach Grizzly Bear Woman Teaches the A’s, Â’s & B’s within the Treaty 7 Language Book Series. Valentina Fox, Îyâ Sa Wîyâ (Red Mountain Woman) Valentina Fox is a member of the Wesley First Nation, Stoney Nakoda Nation. A great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother, she is also a counsellor and Elder at Nakoda Elementary School. A former Certified Nursing Assistant (Practical Nurse), she earned her undergraduate degree in First Nations counselling later in life. She is a passionate advocate for the retention of the Îethka language and has contributed to language curriculum development, and recording stories She iis author of Îyâ Sa Wîyâ Wahogû-kiyabi Cha Red Mountain Woman Receives a Teaching within the Treaty 7 Language Book Series. This book contains 40 Colour illustrations.
