Reckonings: Contemporary Short Fiction by Native American Women is an anthology of short stories written by fifteen Aboriginal women from the United States. This selection offers two or three stories by each author to allow the reader to find a deeper understanding of the writer's work. The editors chose to include enrolled tribal members as well as those who self-identify. A brief introduction examines the works for themes such as identity and life cycles. The editors have included a brief biography of each writer as well as a helpful index. The authors featured include Beth Brant who is Mohawk as well as Paula Gunn Allen, Kimberly M. Blaeser, Anita Endrezze, Louise Erdrich, Diane Glancy, Reid GÂmez, Janet Campbell Hale, Joy Harjo, Linda Hogan, Misha Nogha, Beth H. Piatote, Patricia Riley, Leslie Marmon Silko, and Anna Lee Walters.
