Description
The Quest for Justice: Aboriginal Peoples and Aboriginal Rights is a collection of 24 essays that discuss Aboriginal rights from the First Nations and Euro-western legal perspectives. The opening chapter contains 7 essays from Inuit, Metis and First Nations spokesmen including traditional leaders and elected politicians. The second chapter discusses Aboriginal rights from the constitutional and policy-making perspectives. Three legal experts examine the legal and judicial philosophies surrounding Aboriginal rights. The fourth chapter discusses approaches to negotiated methods for securing Aboriginal rights. Chief Billy Diamond explains the James Bay experience in this section. Although this text first appeared in 1984, it remains an important contribution to the literature about First Nations and Aboriginal rights in Canada.
