Description

Andrea Andersen is an Inuk mother who was raised in the Nunatsiavut communities of Nain, Postville, and Makkovik. She currently practices physiotherapy in Iqaluit, Nunavut. Her inspiration for writing is to share stories about the Inuit culture in Nunatsiavut that are quite unlike any other in Canada. Coco Apunnguaq Lynge is a Kalaaleq/Danish illustrator and artist. She was born in Greenland and raised in Denmark, which has made her long for her Greenlandic roots. This longing often expresses itself through her personal work. She is a graduate of The Animation Workshop in Denmark, and has also studied multimedia and fashion design. Emma Pedersen is a Toronto-based illustrator specializing in children's books and character design.

In They Come Off the Ice, debut Inuit author Andrea Andersen introduces young readers to a unique celebration that takes place in Inuit communities across Labrador: Nalujuit night!

Each January 6th, also known as Old Christmas night, something comes lurking off the ice and into town. With their faces hidden, long sticks in their hands, and carrying bags full of . . . candy? The beings approach in the snowy darkness. What do they want?

Knock, Knock, Knock

Open the door if you dare!
