Description

This is a translation of Singing Sisters: A Story of Humility and is a simply illustrated book and part of the Seven Teachings Stories. In this story, Ma'iingan knows she is a very good singer. Conflict erupts when her little sister wants to sing just like her. Big sister Ma'iingan finds her little sister's singing to be just awful. Ma'iingan learns to share her talent with her little sister so that both sisters are happy. With short sentences and easy vocabulary, this little reader is about sibling rivalry. Series author Katherena Vermette is a Métis writer of poetry, fiction, and children's literature. She holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of British Columbia. Illustrator Irene Kuziw is a graduate of the University of Manitoba’s School of Art. In keeping with the simple stories, the artist's works capture the essential nature of the story making this little reader ideal for beginning readers.
