Katherena Vermette
Katherena Vermette is a Red River Métis (Michif) writer from Treaty 1 territory, the heart of the Métis Nation. She has worked in poetry, novels, children’s literature, and film. Her first book, North End Love Songs, won the 2013 Governor General’s Literary Award for Poetry. Her first novel, The Break, was a national bestseller and won several awards. The Strangers is her second novel and won the 2021 Atwood Gibson Writers' Trust Fiction Prize. She is also the author of the bestselling children's picture book series The Seven Teachings Stories/ Les sept enseignements en histoires.
