Description
Leah's Mustache Party is an exciting picture book from Inhabit Media. Inuk author Nadia Mike is an educator who celebrates the importance of having a fun story told in a diverse book. In her first picture the author tells a joyous story about a red-haired four-year-old who decides to dress as a pirate for Halloween. Leah's mother draws a fine mustache on Leah's face as her daughter goes out in her community trick and treating. Leah loves this role playing and dressing up especially with the mustache drawn on her face. So on Leah's next birthday, the party theme is mustaches. Every child at the party has a special kind of mustache to wear. Even Leah's grandmother wore a mustache. That night after the party, Leah told her mother thank you for such a wonderful party. Leah went to sleep dreaming about how fun mustaches can be. Artist Charlene Chua has created images that demonstrate the fun nature of this girl's imagination. The images show a small community most likely in the far north. Clues can be found in the colour images and this makes this an ideal picture book set in the modern Arctic about the joys of childhood. Highly recommended.
