Aboriginal Peoples: Toward Self-Government was published in 1994 as Des Peuples enfin reconnus. This English edition was translated by Arnold Bennett. The volume is edited by Marie Leger, a sociologist. Contributors include: Ted Moses, Pierre Lepage, Alejandro Morgado Zacarias, Herlinda Zacarias Hernandez, Beatriz Perrone-Moisés, and Paulo Machado. The five chapters detail accounts of negotiations securing recognition and self-government by Indigenous peoples in Mexico, Colombia and Nicaragua, Panama and Brazil. Contributor Ted Moses offers a paper on the James Bay Cree efforts to seek justice at the international level. Marlene Larocque offers a personal account of a Cree woman in the territory of the Miskitos of Nicaragua. Various appendices cover ethnic groups of Columbia, the population of Panama, data on the Indigenous people in Nicaragua's northern Atlantic region.
