Aboriginal Policy Research: Moving Forward, Making a Difference, volume 4 is a collection of papers about Aboriginal Peoples presented at the second Aboriginal Research Policy Conference held in Ottawa in 2006. Co-chaired by Dan Beavon of INAC, Jerry White of University of Western Ontario, and Peter Dinsdale of the National Association of Friendship Centres, the conference examined health issues, governance, and housing and homelessness among Aboriginal Peoples in Canada. This fourth volume of the series presents 16 essays organized into three sections. In the health and well-being section, the papers address the Aboriginal concept of health and healing, Aboriginal participation in health issues planning, Inuit suicide and prevention, the First Nations Research Ethics Committee on Manitoulin Island, a report from the Aboriginal Healing Foundation, and a cultural approach to Aboriginal youth sports and recreation. The second section deals with reconstructing Inuit collective identity in Nunavut, a historical analysis of Treaty 4 and 6 implementation, Inuit women and politics, and successful First Nations policy development. Part three essays discuss urban hidden homelessness and reserve housing, Aboriginal mobility and migration, the National Non-reserve Aboriginal Housing Strategy, and an open model approach to projecting Aboriginal populations.
