Description

History of the Ojibway People is the second edition of William Warren's classic work about the Ojibwe and their history first published in 1885. This volume is annotated and edited, with a new introduction by Theresa Schenck. The need for a new volume is long overdue and offers an introduction that sets the text in context and includes much-needed annotations and minor corrections. William Warren (1825-1853) was the son of an Ojibwe mother and French father and his work has become the classic, first-hand account of Ojibwe oral history. Warren collected traditional stories and historical accounts and his work featured wars, the fur trade, Ojibwe leaders, and tribal organization. This volume includes 2 maps and a helpful index. Highly recommended.
