These stories were collected by Boas and first published in German periodicals between 1891 and 1895. These English translations of the original texts include stories from the Shuswap, Ntlakyapamuq (Thompson), Lower Fraser River, Cowichan, Nanaimo, Squamish, Lukungun, Comox, Klahoose, Sliammon, Eiksen, Pentlatch, Nootka (Nuu-chah-nulth), Lekwitok, Nimpkish, Kwiksootainuk, Kwakiutl, Nakomgilisala, Oowekeeno, Heiltsuk (Bella Bella), Bella Coola (Nuxalk), Tsimshian, Haida, and Tlingit.
