Description

Sometimes I Feel Left Out is a reader from the Nunavummi Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) Emotional Literacy Series. These books feature thoughtful, engaging stories that teach preschool-aged children to identify and regulate their emotions in healthy ways.  In this story, three school friends have a project to work on by creating a play. Two of the friends are imaginative and develop a script in no time. But one friend is left out and he withdraws feeling left out and frustrated. In fact he is close to crying. But his friends realize one partner is not contributing. The friends apologize and vow to work together allowing the left out student a chance to contribute. In fact he suggest a play featuring an Inuit character from a legend about a large being who searches for children lost on the tundra, the amautalik. The project is a success and the three students are all happy with their cooperation. This reader was designed as a read aloud story. It is also a leveled reader with simple dialogue and drawings that help the reader understand the text.  Highly recommended. Reading Level: 10. Fountas & Pinnell Level: K
